Reclaim creativity!? What does "creative" even mean? How do we "reclaim" it?!
In 2026, we are surrounded by digital noise. Whether it is "breaking news", work, or another influencer reiki healer on your TikTok feed, we are bombarded with digital content. Making art in a world full of digital static can feel impossible. If you feel like you've lost your creative flow, you're not alone.
I'm here to help :)
Snail Power
Go. Fucking. Slow.
Seriously, slow down. Our attention span is fading like the stars in the night sky. Girl, you are doing too much! How many ways can I say, less is more? Less is more. You don't have to paint the Mona Lisa to make art. Channel your inner snail power. Grab your Turritella Agate and a pen, and doodle. Sing. Dance. Do whatever you do to express creatively. It doesn't have to be big; less is more.
...I doodle in my journal ;)
Barriers to Access
I learned about this getting sober.
Barriers to access are really important for stopping or slowing addictive behavior. Do you feel addicted to your phone? Me too. This is not a paid sponsorship, but I needed help creating barriers to access when I wanted to create. My phone constantly got in the way. This little "brick" helped with the back-and-forth of deleting apps and re-downloading apps. Creating space for a time-out from my phone allowed me time to create! Turns out the most important part of the creative process is creating time.
So put your phone down and see what happens.
You Might Get Bored
Boredom is the birthplace of creativity.
My mom always said this...and maybe someone said it before her, but she was right. Whenever I get bored, I get creative or introspective. It allows me to check in with myself and think without asking Google. Beautiful things happen at the intersection of creativity and boredom. Maybe you don't think you have a creative bone in your body...you DO. Art isn't about perfection; it's about being brave enough to create.
Be brave. Expand your definition of words like "art" and "creative".
YOU are ART, baby.
